How To Do Origami Step By Step

Saturday, December 24th, 2011

Throughout our lives, we learn how to follow instructions. Whether it’s following instructions barked out during fire drills or following the steps in performing to routine appliance maintenance, following instructions can mean the difference between failure and success.

Similarly, doing origami directions correctly can make or break your paper creation. Here are some tips to keep in mind as you fold along with your video guide.

1. Fold the creases thoroughly. Paper folding instructions will tell you when there’s an exception to this rule. So as a rule of thumb, unless you’re told NOT to crease thoroughly, you should always compress the paper before advancing to the next step. If you need a tool to strengthen the fold further, use the end of a plastic ruler (or another tool that produces the same result.)

2. Start out slowly. Japanese paper folding is just like any other hobby. Do too much too soon and too fast and you could end up severely frustrated. The most effective method for making sure this doesn’t happen is to take it slowly especially in the beginning. View each step in the video multiple times, so you fully understand it. Then, diligently learn the step before advancing to the next one. While you want to learn the Japanese paper folding art as rapidly as possible, you will need to learn it step by step and thoroughly at that.

3. Follow the instructions carefully. The good news is that the video platform will make it easier to follow origami directions. Still, you should concentrate on your objective. Check that you’re doing each step properly. Check that you’re folding the right way at the right time. Remember that it’s more important to spend extra time on a particular step than to learn it haphazardly. It’s imperative that you fully understand how to do a step before attempting to do it yourself.

Use these tips to help you follow origami directions quickly and precisely. Whether you want to learn how to make a paper swan or t-shirt, it will make the process as easy as tying your shoelaces!Image Source: http://images.google.com
